Vern now Hershey is our very first Teddies Healing Hearts donated puppy. Hershey was donated to a very special family who is going through some terribly sad circumstances and little Sophie had been inconsolable. Sweet Hershey has made her life so much better by being her very own emotional support pup. Good boy Hershey, we knew you were meant for big things!!

Hershey updates from his wonderful family!
We have renamed this guy “Hershey’. He has settled in so well, and is sleeping the days away waiting for the girls to come home and play. Sleeping through the night and takes me to the door to go potty. Such a smart, loving, caring little one. Sophie came home from a rough day at school, 3 minutes of cuddles made it all better.
Hershey 10 months old update:
I have been meaning to update you for a while, and life just keeps getting more hectic!
Hershey is absolutely the best dog I have ever known! He is gentle, loving, and knows who needs him the most at any given point! My nephew was struggling at the park the other day, and he jumped right up on the bench with him just so Milo could pet him and focus on something else. This was with 7 kids around that he knows and a very busy park with many distractions! He does this at home, too, with the girls. He also knows what each one needs. He lays on my oldest when she is down because she likes pressure, and he lays beside my youngest so she can lay her head on him and just cuddle.
He is so well-behaved while out and about, only barking when he wants the kids to check in. He doesn’t like it when they are out of view for more than a minute, and it seems as if he is calling them back. They have to acknowledge him, or he will keep barking and try to get me to find them. This isn’t only with Abby and Sophie either. If I take my neices and nephews, he is waiting for everyone to check in! He lays under tables at restaurants and hardly acknowledges other dogs that pass. People think he is the cutest, and we are learning that not all people are friends even though they try to be! He has great intuition on people and dogs. If he is uncomfortable with another being in any way, he lets us know.
Garbage cans and studded tires seem to be an enemy, and he likes to try to rip my arm off if either one is moving too close to him. But other than that, he walks fantastic!
My favorite trick he knows is how to poop on command! I only ask him when I know he has to go, but as soon as I say “okay poop!” he goes. Which is amazing because then I don’t have to walk around with a poop bag the whole walk!
As you can see in the pictures, he would really like me to get a bigger work chair so he could work with me all day! He is still so laid back that he just hangs out with me while I work, and plays with the kids in the evening.

1 year update on Hershey
Hershey has been nothing but amazing! He is learning more and more every day! He is a 51-pound lap dog who loves to try and join me while I am working.
Hershey is still the laid-back, easygoing puppy he has always been, though he seems to be getting a bit more energy! He knows our routines and is ready at the door to take the kids to school and reminds me at 3 o’clock everyday that he would like to go pick them up, even though we usually don’t go until 4! Those are the only two times he does not like me leaving the house without him.
I have said it so many times, but he is exactly the dog you said he was going to be and has been absolutely amazing for our family.
